As the PI in multiple supersonic and hypersonic missile aerodynamic heating programs, he won the Prize of AVIC Science and Technology Progress Award Science in 1999 and received funding from the Shanghai Young Star of Science and Technology foundation in 2003. Prof. Liu was elected as a candidate for the Excellent Young Teachers of Shanghai in 2003. He is now the head of the Department of Aircraft design and the Director of the J.C. Wu Center of Aerodynamics.
