From July 14 to 16, 2021, the International Conference on Aerospace System Science and Engineering (ICASSE 2021) was successfully held online. The conference is held annually by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Moscow Aviation Institute and University of Toronto, and it is now held for the fifth time. For this year, the conference was hosted by the Moscow Aviation Institute. With the theme of "Innovative Concept and Technology", the conference published 4 keynote reports, 12 specially invited reports and 82 general oral reports. The conference consists of 7 branches, covering the main research directions of aerospace systems.
Mikhail Pogosyan, President of Moscow Aviation Institute, delivered a welcome speech. President Pogosyan said that he hopes this year's conference can support positive changes in the field of aerospace technology research and development, conduct meaningful discussions on related issues, and absorb new ideas from researchers and professionals in order to establish fruitful international cooperation. A total of 110 manuscripts were received at the conference. Overseas submissions accounted for 47.3%, and enterprises and scientific research institutions accounted for 20.9%. After review, 88 article authors stood out. 82 authors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Moscow Aviation Institute, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Moscow University of Physics and Technology, Moscow State Civil Aviation Technical University, South Ural State University, Uzbekistan University of Aeronautics and Technology, COMAC Shanghai Aviation Institute, COMAC Beijing Aviation Institute, COMAC Flight Test Center, China Academy of Space Technology, Russian Central Fluid Research Institute, Russian State Aviation System Research Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences System Programming Institute, Russian Aero Engine Central Research Institute, Russia Sarov Project Center, Russian Irkut Corporation and other units gave wonderful reports at the conference.
At this conference, many famous experts and scholars from abroad gave lectures on the frontiers of the subject, including Yurii Ravikovich, Vice President of Moscow Aviation Institute, Wu Shufan, Executive Deputy Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dmitry, Director of the Department of Advanced Science and Technology of the Moscow Aviation Institute, Christopher Damaren, Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, University of Toronto, Canada, Hugh Liu, University of Toronto, Ping Lu, Dean of Aerospace Engineering, San Diego State University, United States, George Zhu, Dean of Mechanical Engineering, York University, Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Tom Shih, Purdue University, Sergey Chernyshev, Russian Academician of the Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Makarov, Director of the Central Aero Engine Research Institute of Russia, Sergei Strijhak, Project Leader of the Master of IT and Psychology at the Moscow Aviation Institute, Aleksandr Efremov, Director of the Aviation Department of the Moscow Aviation Institute, and Advanced Aircraft Structure Strength Comprehensive Laboratory of the Russian Central Fluid Research Institute Director Alexander Shanygin. In addition to publishing reports at the conference, they also participated in the preparation and review of the conference as experts, and observed general oral reports during the three days of the conference. Under the presidency and guidance of the chairman of the sub-venue, more than 100 experts and scholars took the opportunity of this conference to conduct in-depth academic exchanges.
Finally, Professor Zhan Xingqun, Vice Dean of School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Shanghai Jiaotong University, delivered a closing speech. He sincerely thanked the specially invited guests and article authors for providing high-quality academic sharing, and said that the ICASSE conference has become a close link between Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Moscow Aviation Institute and the University of Toronto, as well as a open platform for building world-wide friendship and cooperation. At the same time, he encouraged scholars to participate in the sixth ICASSE conference and looked forward to meeting everyone in the famous Caribbean Carnival season in beautiful Toronto.
