School of Aeronautics and Astronautics held 2022 Summer Camp for Outstanding Students

A special "cloud photo". On July 7, 2021, outstanding students from various universities gathered in the cloud of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics to participate in the 2022 online summer camp.

Although the students did not come to the campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the college prepared a wealth of online activities for the students, so that students can not only fully understand the college’s various professional directions and special projects, but also listen to expert lectures and voices from important companies in the industry.

Zhan Xingqun, deputy dean of the college, and heads of different departments and center directors attended the opening ceremony at the main venue of the college. Sheng Yi, deputy director of the Qian Xuesen Library, Anna Katkina from Moscow Aviation Institute Internationalization Office, Li Binkai from Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute of COMAC, and Chen Yu, Recruitment Director of Human Resources Department of China Aviation Development Corporation, participated in this summer camp in the cloud.

Highlight 1: Welcome ceremony

At the beginning of the summer camp, Professor Xingqun Zhan extended a warm welcome to all the students who participated in this summer camp for talented talents.

Highlight 2: Authoritative interpretation of the college's professional direction

The heads of the Flight Design Department, the Information Control Department, the Propulsion Department, and the Near Space Research Center of the college , the heads of the Product Life Cycle and Management direction, Composite Material direction, Aerospace direction, and Engine direction of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Moscow Aviation Institute dual master program gathered together for these students. They introduced the scientific research and faculty in each direction in detail, and hoped that the students can have a deeper and comprehensive understanding of the college.

Highlight 3: Direct PhD student policy and Toronto project introduction

The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics has a first-level doctoral program in aerospace science and technology. The school attaches great importance to the selection and training of doctoral students. Professor Zhan Xingqun introduced the school's direct doctoral students' policy and the direct doctoral student Zhiyuan honor plan to the students in detail. Gao Shan from the Internationalization Office introduced the admission requirements, application methods and visa processing of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University-University of Toronto Dual Master Program and the Joint Ph.D. Program.

Highlight 4: lecture on "Qian Xuesen and Shanghai Jiao Tong University"

Mr. Sheng Yi from Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave a lecture on "Qian Xuesen and Shanghai Jiao Tong University" for students. Pieces of precious photos and historical materials are engraved with unforgettable historical facts, allowing the students to get close to Qian Xuesen, the founder of manned spaceflight of our Republic, and the outstanding talents cultivated by the school.

Highlight 5: Connecting to Moscow

The network has narrowed the distance between time and space. Anna Katkina from the Internationalization Office of Moscow Aviation Institute introduced the situation of Moscow Aviation Institute, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Moscow Aviation Institute Dual Master Program, and demonstrated the strong cultural atmosphere of Moscow.

Highlight 6: Lectures from major Chinese aircraft manufacturing companies

Mr. Li Binkai from COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute, and Mr. Chen Yu, the head of recruitment of the Human Resources Department of China Aviation Development Corporation gave speeches on the current situation of domestic aviation industry.

This year's summer camp for outstanding talents has received enthusiastic applications from various universities across the country, and had 114 candidates participated in the interview on the 8-9^th, July. School of Aeronautics and Astronautics also looks forward to more and more outstanding students meeting each other in the next year.
