On January 20, 2022, the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics held a thesis defense for the 2019 SJTU-MAI Dual degree master (DMP) program. Since its establishment in 2017, the SJTU-MAI DMP has recruited 5 batches of master student so far, with a total of 255 students from China and Russia. This is the second time to have the "online + offline" defense of DMP since the COVID-19. Offices in MAI and SJTU have cooperated closely, overcoming many inconveniences caused by the epidemic and ensuring a smooth progress of this defense meeting.
Before the official defense began, teachers and students gathered together and held a ceremony in the conference hall at School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Prof. Wu Shufan, the executive vice president of the school, Prof. Zhan Xingqun and Prof. Lu Bei, the vice presidents, the major directors of DMP and all 2019 students attended the event. Russian teachers and students participated in the event through online meeting. The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Tian Wei, the director of Teaching Office.
Prof. Lu congratulated all the 2019 students who successfully completed their studies under the difficult times of the epidemic. She pointed out that under the new cooperation background and training mode, the school has explored a path for cultivating scientific and technological talents with international vision, professional quality, and the sense of national identity. She also expressed her expectations for the students to make achievements in the workplace and create greater glories.
MAI teacher representative Alexander Khvan made a speech. He congratulated all the students who completed various challenges in their studies in the past two and a half years, obtained cross-border friendship, and gained their own life experience. I hope all students will stick to their dreams and use their knowledge, skills and passion in their future work to make efforts to continuously promote the progress of aerospace technology.
The launching ceremony ended in the group photo of China and Russia. Each direction is divided into groups for "online + offline" defense.
This defense will focus on examining the students' basic knowledge, methods and abilities, practice and application, writing quality, oral expression and other aspects. Through self-reporting and answering questions, the students fully demonstrated their solid professional quality and excellent engineering ability. The cultivation of excellent international talents in aerospace engineering is also a direct embodiment of the educational achievements of SJTU - MAI DMP program. The program will be dedicated to condensing global aerospace forces, continuing to cultivate first-class talents with international vision and the sense of national identity, who can make achievement in the future via comprehending the past and striving for the present and achieving the future", and make contributions to China's aerospace science and technology.
