The 2023 Deans' Joint Meeting of Chinese Colleges of Aeronautics and Astronautics was held in Shanghai

       On November 25th, the 2023 Deans' Joint Meeting of Chinese Colleges of Aeronautics and Astronautics was held in Shanghai. As one of the sub venues of the 2023 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application(Shanghai), this conference is hosted by the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Shanghai Jiao Tong University as the rotating chairman unit, and co organized by the Science and Technology Bureau of Taicang High tech Zone and the Chinese Education Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics. More than 80 deans and relevant leaders from over 50 universities across the country, as well as representatives from the aerospace industry, gathered in Shanghai to discuss the theme of "aerospace engineering education and talent cultivation". The conference was hosted by Hu Shiqiang, Executive Vice Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

        Zhao Chunling, the chief designer of COMAC C929, delivered a speech titled "Key Technologies and Talent Cultivation for Civil Aircraft", and Du Hui, the deputy general manager of AECC CAE, gave a presentation titled "Reflections on Talent Cultivation in the Commercial Aviation Engine Industry". They elaborated on the key technology and talent needs from the perspective of the aerospace industry, as well as the exploration path for talent cultivation mode reform. Pan Chong, Dean of the School of Aerospace Science and Engineering at Beihang University, Lu Chao, President of Nanchang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Yu Xiao, Director of the Frontier Technology Institute of ADR, Chen Haixin, Vice Dean of the School of Aerospace Science and Astronautics at Tsinghua University, Zhan Xingqun, Vice Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhang Chengming, Deputy Secretary General of the China Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Zhang Ronghai, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Taicang High tech Zone, Focusing on the theme of "Aerospace Engineering Education and Talent Cultivation", the characteristics of talent cultivation were introduced, and experiences in discipline construction were exchanged.

        After the report, the 2023 Deans' Joint round table conference of Chinese Colleges of Aeronautics and Astronautics was held to discuss the new problems and challenges faced by the education and teaching reform of the aerospace discipline. Experience in talent cultivation reform was deeply exchanged, and the charter of the Dean's Joint Meeting was revised, member positions were added, and the rotating chairman unit of the Dean's Joint Meeting in 2025 was determined.

        The Meeting was established in 2015 with the aim of strengthening exchanges and cooperation among departments of aviation and aerospace in Chinese universities, promoting the successful experience of various Chinese universities in aviation and aerospace higher education, exploring advanced and distinctive higher education models in aerospace. The member units represent the leading level of aviation and aerospace science and technology in China, and are the main force in cultivating aviation and aerospace talents.
