Shanghai Jiao Tong University-COMAC Institute of International Civil Aviation inaugurated and held the first council meeting

        The first Board of Directors and unveiling ceremony of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University-COMAC International Civil Aviation Research Institute was held in the Wenbo Building of Shanghai Jiao Tong University on February 4.

More than 50 leaders from higher authorities such as the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, as well as leaders from civil aviation universities such as the Civil Aviation University of China, the Civil Aviation Flight Academy, and the Civil Aviation Cadre Management College, as well as leaders from COMAC and our university, attended the event. The meeting was chaired by Xi Lifeng, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

        Ding Kuiling, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered a welcome speech and pointed out that under the strategic deployment of accelerating the construction of an education, transportation, and manufacturing power in China, we are working together with COMAC to build the International Civil Aviation Research Institute, aiming to create an innovative, open, cooperative, and shared high-end international cooperation and exchange platform for civil aviation, and strive to build a world-class international civil aviation research institute.

        Hu Shiqiang, Executive Vice President of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, introduced to the attending leaders the research work and establishment of the working group of the International Civil Aviation Research Institute over the past year.

        Tang Yanhua, Executive Vice President of COMAC Commercial Aircraft Academy, read out the working charter of the research institute and the list of members of the first council to the conference.

        Former Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization Liu Fang, Deputy Director Tang Wenkan of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Chairman He Dongfeng, General Manager Zhou Xinmin, and Deputy General Manager Wu Yongliang of COMAC, President Ding Kuiling, Executive Vice President Xi Lifeng, and Vice President Zhang Zhaoguo of Shanghai Jiao Tong University jointly unveiled the plaque for the International Civil Aviation Research Institute.

        Comrade Liu Fang, former member of the Party Group of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and former Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization, pointed out in his speech that at a time when China places equal emphasis on aviation manufacturing and transportation, and low altitude economy is included in the national strategic support industry, the joint establishment of the Research Institute by COMAC and Jiaotong University is timely and has great potential.

        Chairman He Dongfeng of COMAC pointed out in his speech that after 15 years of efforts, domestic commercial aircraft have entered a new stage of large-scale operation and international development. The International Civil Aviation Research Institute aims to gather the power of the entire civil aviation industry chain and innovation chain, promote the further integration and development of China's civil aviation manufacturing and transportation industries, and accelerate the global expansion of domestic commercial aircraft.
