The First SJTU Graduate Future Aircraft Innovation Competition Held

On June 5th, the final of the first SJTU Graduate Future Aircraft Innovation Competition was held in the Aerospace Building, with 12 teams competing fiercely. The competition was organized by the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of SJTU, and the guests who attended the final are: Liu Hongtao, Director of the Large Aircraft Innovation Valley Aviation Science Center, Tang Xiangying, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Youth League Committee, as well as faculty members from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering.

In her speech, Lu Bei, the Vice Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, expressed that the competition aims to provide a broad platform for graduate students to showcase their scientific innovation talents, encouraging them to explore bravely and innovate actively. The competition is also an opportunity to promote in-depth exchanges among participants and stimulate creative ideas. Lu Bei encouraged the students to accumulate valuable experience through the competition and lay a solid foundation for participating in higher-level innovation competitions.

The competition started in January 2024, with more than 20 student teams from five colleges registering to participate. It gathered students with extraordinary creativity and talent in the design of future aircraft, fully demonstrating the technological innovation strength and potential of SJTU students. In the final round, each team took turns to present their carefully designed future aircraft. These designs not only cover traditional aviation technology but also integrate cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and new materials, showing the students' broad vision and solid foundation in technological innovation.

After the on-site presentation and review by the judges, one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes were finally awarded. The winning teams will represent Shanghai Jiao Tong University in national competitions.

The successful organization of this Future Aircraft Innovation Competition provided students with the opportunity to showcase their innovative achievements. The competition promoted interdisciplinary exchanges and cooperation, deepened students' understanding of the field of aeronautics and astronautics, and demonstrated the innovative ability and team spirit of the participants. It is believed that this will accumulate valuable practical experience for them to enter the field of aerospace science and technology.
